Mrs. Detlor’s 2nd graders had a writing celebration today to celebrate the publication of their non-fiction animal books. These talented kiddos wrote absolutely FABULOUS, fact-filled books that included a table of contents, headings, illustrations, captions, photographs, bold print, a glossary, and so much more. To say these 2nd graders worked hard is an understatement. Their smiles tell you how proud they are of their writing. Congratulations, 2nd Grade authors! #TCProud #2ndgradeROCKS #authors

Each year the high school English department administers the National Language Arts League (NLAL) Test, which is a timed 35-minute multiple choice test that asks questions on vocabulary, spelling, reading comprehension, and grammar. School districts across the nation offer this test to their students in between April and May. Last week Ms. Megan Woyak and Ms. Sarah Gildenzoph received confirmation that our high school students scored well again on the test this year. This year there were 150 students to compete at the HS level nationwide and 120 teams. This year our NLAL Grade 9 Team is the third place national winner and scored 341 points. A team from Pennsylvania and Georgia took first and second place. Our team (first picture) consisted of (left to right): Leonardo Samayoa, Payton Lucas, Kelsey Flyte, Alesandra Lehouillier, Ayden Kudela, Reyna Calderon, Josefina Boyd, Even Aguilar, Humberto Banda, and Rey Banda. One of our Grades 10-12 (consisting of all juniors) also is a third place national winner and scored 380 points trailing behind the same schools from Pennsylvania and Georgia. This team (second picture) consisted of (left to right): Lyric Arnold, Kaylee Goman, Grace Detlor, Vanessa Garcia, Avril Lewallen, Gabriel Prince, Jacob Makaryk, Brianna Pfadenhauer, Lily Lehnigk (not pictured), and Liberty Vetrone (not pictured). Congratulations students! Ms. Woyak, Ms. Gildenzoph, and Tri-County are very proud of your accomplishment! Go Penguins!

Our high school STEAM class would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Adams-Columbia Electric Cooperative for your generous donation that made our Squishy Circuits Kits possible. Thanks to your support, our students were able to explore the fundamentals of series and parallel circuits in a fun, engaging, and hands-on way. This semester's students chose to create baseball-playing characters that would light up according to the circuits they put together.

Summerize
Today was our final ExCEL play group for the 2024-2025 school year, and we had a great turnout! We read "If You Happen to Have a Dinosaur" and did the "Dinosaur Stomp." The kids also learned about emotions with dinosaurs and counted to 10 numerous times while learning different dinosaur names. They had fun creating their own dinosaur mask and dino dirt "parfaits." We had a send-off for our soon-to-be 4K students at Tri-County! We know they will enter 4K confident and eager to learn more! Thank you to all who attended play group this year and enjoy your summer!
